Ausroad Systems delivers new Stemming Hire Truck to Rio Tinto

Brisbane based manufacturers Ausroad Systems has just completed production of a new Stemming Truck specifically manufactured for hire to the Mining Industry.

The new Stemming Hire Truck fitted to a Volvo FM 350HP 8 x 4 cab chassis was delivered to Rio Tinto’s Clermont open cut coal mine, 100km north of Emerald, Queensland, Australia in early June 2011 by Ausroad’s Manager Toni Dunlop.  Christopher Bell, Rio Tinto’s Projects and Earthworks Supervisor (Clermont Mine) first approached Ausroad Systems in March 2011 to inquire about hiring; Ausroad was able to fast-track the production of the Stemming Hire Truck into its manufacturing schedule to meet Rio Tinto’s requirement for an initial six month hire.

“Ausroadâ„¢ Stemming Trucks are designed to take the time and labour out of the stemming process”.  said Ausroad Manager Toni Dunlop “The machines allow for back filling (stemming) of blast holes in a fast efficient manner.  The process is fully controlled from the driver’s seat via a joystick.  Proportional hydraulic control allows accurate control and placement of stemming material” he said.

The Ausroadâ„¢ Stemming Hire Truck has an 11m3 hopper capacity, positive drive conveyor belts (means no slipping even under full loads) with 760mm side travel making it easy to align the feed shoot with blast holes. Automatic operation of dust control ensures worksite dust is minimised.  An on board compressor and receiver means compressed air is always available to run extra equipment and tools.
