20 Doosan DA40 ADTs for Hæhre & Isachsen Maskinutleie

In Norway, Hæhre & Isachsen Maskinutleie AS, one of the largest machine rental companies in the country, has purchased 20 new Doosan DA40 Stage IV/Tier 4 Final compliant articulated dump trucks (ADTs) from Rosendal Maskin AS, the Doosan dealer for Norway, based in Askim.

The Doosan brand was chosen after a very competitive analysis of ADT suppliers conducted by Hæhre & Isachsen Maskinutleie AS, which is part of BetonmastHæhre Anlegg AS (formerly called Hæhre), one of Norway's largest road and civil engineering contractors. Hæhre is an established user of Doosan/Moxy ADTs, but has always had other brands as well; the group has grown very rapidly in recent years and now has a fleet of dump trucks numbering over 100 units (including ADTs, RDTs, small dumpers, tracked dumpers etc).

It is the largest ever Doosan ADT order in Scandinavia - the new DA40s replace existing DA40 models in the Hæhre fleet and several more ADTs from other manufacturers. The Doosan DA40s form part of a very competitive package, which includes a comprehensive service agreement between Rosendal and the Hæhre Group, encompassing 24/7 service with very quick response times.

Hæhre has been very satisfied with the performance, reliability and operator comfort of the DA40 which, when combined with the excellent warranty conditions for the new machines, ensured that Doosan and Rosendal were offering a very attractive package deal.

Operators at Hæhre like the DA40 machines because of the abundant space in the cab; the soft turning steering wheel; the excellent visibility; the safe and clean front access to the cab and the outstanding traction and stability of the machine in operation.

Hæhre will continue to use the new DoosanConnnect state-of-the-art, wireless fleet and asset management system to monitor productivity, utilization rate and fuel consumption.

Designed to meet increasing demand for fleet monitoring, machine-to-machine communication, machine intelligence and remote equipment monitoring, the DoosanConnect system offers a web-based fleet management solution which is very useful for monitoring the performance and security of machines and promoting preventative maintenance. It is available as a standard feature on all new generation Doosan Stage IV compliant excavators (from 14 tonne), all new generation Doosan Stage IV compliant wheel loaders and the new generation Doosan Stage IV compliant ADTs.

The new service allows owners and dealers to remotely monitor and communicate with Doosan machines via the DoosanConnect telematics website. Also available for retro-fitting in a kit form, the DoosanConnect system is supplied with a free 3-year subscription and customers are provided with their own account so that they can manage the machines in their fleet using the system. Once the 3-year complementary period expires, customers have the option to purchase a service extension.

Frank Ole Sørensen, CEO of Hæhre & Isachsen Maskinutleie, said: "This is the largest order for dump trucks we have ever placed. The DA40 is a very good product and we see advantages in offering one make of machine in this segment. It also has to do with the training of the drivers and the service and maintenance work that is required. There are big differences in operating the different brands of ADT.”

With the 20 new DA40 ADTs being put into operation, 51 of the 59 ADTs in the ‘Hæhre system’ will be from Doosan. Two of the remaining eight are dump trucks in sizes Doosan does not have in its range.

The agreement is also by far the largest ADT order for Rosendal Maskin AS. The previous record was also with Hæhre for 10 Doosan ADTs.

"This means a lot to Rosendal and all machines are being delivered with a service agreement of five years or 10,000 hours. We delivered 20 ADTs in total in 2017, so this is a great start to 2018," says Ole Marius Rosendal, General Manager of Rosendal Maskin. Since the record for Rosendal Maskin is 30 dump trucks in one year, there is a strong possibility that 2018 will be a record year for the sale of Doosan ADTs.

Like all Doosan ADTs, the DA40 model features an articulation hinge positioned behind the turning ring to provide equal weight distribution to the front axle even during maximum steer articulation. This together with a free-swinging rear tandem bogie ensures equal distribution of weight to each wheel and guarantees permanent 6-wheel contact and drive for equal power distribution and excellent performance on difficult terrain. Collectively, the forward turning point, the unique tandem bogie and the sloping rear frame results in ‘best in class’ rough and soft terrain capabilities and avoids the need for electronic aids such as traction control.

The DA40 also offers ‘best-in-class’ fuel consumption owing to a combination of features including the Scania DC13 368 kW (500 HP) Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) and Exhaust Gas Recirculation (ECR) diesel engine and the ZF EP transmission, improving the transfer of power from the engine to the wheels for outstanding traction, with an electronic engine brake system, one of four brake systems on the truck.
