A brace of Volvos for BCT Services (South) Ltd

BCT Services (South) Ltd based on the outskirts of Southampton has added two new Volvo excavators to its plant fleet as it continues to expand its groundworks and civil engineering business within the house building and commercial sector.
The two excavators in question are a Volvo EC140E (fourteen tonne) and EC160E (sixteen tonne) and were chosen thanks to the reliability and performance of the company’s first EC140 which was purchased from a third party. “We have been very satisfied with our EC140D in terms of its reliability and operator acceptance,” comments Managing Director Brian Turner. “The Volvo fourteen tonner is a well-built machine in my opinion and it’s a respected brand on the market.”
With the company expanding its groundwork and civil engineering portfolio the need to add additional machines to the fleet became a necessity. “Besides adding a new EC140E we took the decision to add the larger sixteen tonne model as well to give us more flexibility for working on larger sites. A good deal of the work we also undertake on site involves dealing with drainage, shoring excavations and handling drag box trench supports and the EC160E has that extra power and more lifting capacity to handle these activities,” continues Brian.
Both EC140 and EC160 models are powered by Volvo stage IV compliant 4 cylinder engines developing 121 and 148hp respectively. The machines’ ‘Integrated work mode control’ provides high efficiency, rapid dig cycles coupled to significantly low fuel consumption. This advanced mode control system ensures the maximum possible hydraulic horsepower available is delivered at a constant engine speed under varying load conditions. In addition, boom and arm geometry provide highly competitive digging forces and lifting capacities, which makes for faster work cycles. Hose rupture valves are fitted as standard to the boom and dipper cylinders as are quick fit hydraulics and a hammer/shear service.
Both the new arrivals along with the existing EC140D are covered by Volvo Blue service agreements whereby the machines are regularly maintained and service by Volvo engineers using genuine Volvo parts.
