A new engine from Hatz – all ready for EU Stage V.
Hatz, the German manufacturer of a range of environmentally biased diesel engines have launched their latest engine the 4H50TIC. This brand new product has been engineered to fulfil the upcoming EU Stage V emission levels as the industry prepares to meet stricter emissions regulation.
For the first time all industrial diesel engines with a power output of less than 19 kilowatts will have to comply with EU Stage V. Previously these engines were unaffected by EU emissions regulations. EU Stage V stipulates that the particulate mass limit cannot exceed 0.6g/kWh, with the emissions limits for nitrogen oxides and hydrocarbons at 7.5g/kWh. EU Stage V is set to be mandatory from January 2019.
The 4H50TIC is 2-litre engine fitted with a turbocharged intercooler. With a total weight of just 173 kg and producing a maximum power output of 55 kW, Hatz, believe that this combination makes the 4H50TIC the most compact and lightweight in its class. The 4H50TIC features common rail technology. This system is named after the shared high-pressure reservoir (common rail) that supplies all the cylinders with fuel. With conventional diesel injection systems, the fuel pressure has to be generated individually for each injection. However, with the common rail system, pressure generation and injection are separate, meaning that the fuel is constantly available at the required pressure for injection. The advantages of the common rail system includes: clean and highly efficient fuel injection due to extremely short spraying distances and multiple injection, with high engine power and smooth running with low consumption and exhaust emissions.
Uniquely, the 4H50TIC does not require a diesel particulate filter (DPF) in order to comply with the current Stage 3b / Tier 4 final emissions regulations.
Hatz are anticipating keen interest in the 4H50TIC from the worldwide construction machinery manufacturing industry because of its future compliance with EU Stage V. Consequently, the 4H50TIC produces clean power, with modest dimensions, together with ease of maintenance and operation. The 4H50TIC has been designed to suit many applications, including powering hydraulic power packs, screeners, power generation and pumping applications.
Hatz GB was founded in 1979, and is based in Hinckley, central England. The company has grown into one of the leading suppliers of diesel engines in the UK, supporting a variety of markets and in particular manufacturers and suppliers of compact plant and machinery.
