Andusia Launch Series of Films

Andusia have launched a series of films aimed at those in the waste industry including MRF’s, EfW facilities and UK plant developers. The films have been created to show what happens behind-the-scenes to the UK’s waste when it is converted into RDF, from collection all the way through to export and recovery at Energy from Waste facilities across Europe.

Andusia was launched in 2012 by Director’s Steve Burton and Stewart Brackenbury. With a combined 40+ years of experience in the waste industry, they saw an opportunity in the developing market of RDF export.

Since then, Andusia haven’t looked back, growing to be one of the UK’s largest independent exporters of RDF, celebrating many milestones over the years. Andusia have now exported over 1,250,000 tonnes of RDF waste to Energy from Waste plants across Europe. The company has since expanded its offering, using their expertise in the RDF field to begin export of SRF, and more recently hazardous and clinical waste.

Starting with a waste collection in Leeds, the films show how waste is sorted at AWM Leeds MRF facility and converted into RDF before being baled and wrapped. Once loaded onto a curtain-sider (that would have been returning empty otherwise), the bales are then transported to Immingham port and shipped with DFDS, Northern Europe’s largest shipping company. All the while, Andusia manage the logistics and TFS documentation. The films end with the RDF bales arriving at an EfW plant, Fortum Oslo Varme, where the bales are broken and incinerated. The excess heat is used to generate renewable electricity and district heating for the city of Oslo.

If you watch closely you will notice the films are interwoven with animation, mirroring the waste management company’s refreshing brand image. To watch the videos and subscribe to our YouTube channel, click here.
