Andusia sign loose waste contract with Grundon
Andusia are pleased to announce that they have secured a loose waste contract with the UK’s largest family-owned waste management experts, Grundon Waste Management.
Andusia and Grundon have formed a one-year partnership to supply up to 10,000 tonnes of refuse-derived fuel (RDF) from their Colnbrook site to an Energy from Waste (EfW) facility in Germany. Historically, Andusia have delivered RDF in baled and wrapped form, however, having sourced a cost-effective logistical solution, RDF will be transported loose on walking floors systems.
Grundon, founded in 1929, own and operate a wide range of treatment facilities, providing the capability to deal with almost every type of waste stream. As a leading supplier of integrated waste management solutions, Grundon was quick to recognise the significance of EfW technology, both as an alternative to diminishing landfill void and as a sustainable option for energy recovery.
Alec Powell, General Manager – Resource & Recovery at Grundon, said: “As the UK’s EfW infrastructure develops it is vital that we have dependable cost-effective outlets for RDF. As we continue this transition, Andusia’s knowledge and expertise within this space made it an easy decision to partner with them”
Chris May, Andusia’s Operations Director, said “Here at Andusia we always aim to offer both our waste producers and plants a bespoke service and this time I’m pleased to have found the perfect solution for Grundon. As the waste was to be supplied in loose form, we worked with walking floor haulier, Jantschitsch
