Braithwaite Excavations opts for Volvo excavators

Barnsley based Braithwaite Excavations Ltd has taken delivery of a new thirty tonne EC300E with the larger EC480E on order, to supplement and rejuvenate its fleet of Volvo excavators.

Braithwaite Excavations chose the Volvo E series excavators after having evaluated the market and taking a unit on demonstration. These are the first Volvo excavators to be purchased by the company for some time. “We used to run the B and C versions going back ten years or so and found them to be very reliable and liked by our operators,” comments Director Andy Braithwaite. “We found the latest E model to be equally impressive when we evaluated it in terms of performance and operator acceptance. With our contracts portfolio expanding we needed to add new excavators to the fleet and opted for the reliability and product support we have enjoyed in the past from Volvo,” he continued.

The new machines join a comprehensive mixed fleet of earthmoving equipment which includes Volvo excavators, loading shovels and articulated haulers. Both the EC300E and EC480E are powered by Stage IV compliant engines developing 243 and 377 net horsepower respectively offering the latest in engine technology and operating sophistication.

The Volvo Care Cab offers a large roomy interior with plenty of leg room and foot space. The excellent all round visibility is enhanced by pressurized and filtered cab air supplied by a 14 vent, climate control system. An adjustable easy to read LCD colour monitor provides real time information of the machine functions, important diagnostic information and a wide variety of work tool settings besides providing visibility to the operator from the rear and side view cameras.
