C Doyle Plant Hire invest in a Terex Finlay J960

From their expansive premises in Windsor, Berkshire, this multi-faceted company only invest in the best equipment available. From their highly impressive fleet of trucks to their excavators, crushers and screens they only buy the machines that will enable them to deliver the high quality of products and exemplary service their customers have come to expect.

Since they were established in 2003, C. Doyle & Sons. Ltd have been providing a service to the Thames Valley and South East of England. With an instantly recognisable range of Scania, Volvo and Mercedes trucks, they offer a range of services including tipper, grab lorry and low loader hire as well as aggregate sales, excavation and groundworks contracting.

The latest addition to their plant fleet is a Terex Finlay J960 mobile jaw crusher which follows on from a Kobelco SK140SRLC-5 also recently purchased from Molson Group.

The J960 is the latest addition to the extensive Terex Finlay jaw crusher range, but it proves that size is not everything when it comes to production capacity. This aggressive yet compact crusher incorporates the proven Terex direct drive single toggle jaw crusher which gives high capacity. With jaws measuring 900 x 600mm, the chamber operates a direct drive system via wedge belts. This system allows operators to take advantage of a ferocious tonnage rate whilst also benefiting from remarkably low fuel consumption figures that set it in a league of its own.

This powerful jaw chamber has full hydraulic wedge adjust system for quick and easy on-site adjustment of the jaw closed size setting (CSS), allowing operators to minimise downtime when changing the size of the product being produced. All powered by the tried and tested Tier 4f compliant Caterpillar C4.4 (173hp) engine that maintains a steady speed of 1800 – 2000rpm

Doyle and Sons. Ltd opted to include a remote-control unit, allowing the operator feeding the crusher in their new Kobelco SK140 to control the crusher at the same time. This clearly delivers a manpower saving, but also enhances the safe operation as there is no need for a separate crusher operator to be near the machine. This allows the operator to keep focused on keeping the impressive 3.6m3 capacity feed hopper full of feed stock.

Another option that was ticked on this order was the by-pass conveyor. When folded out, this enables fines to be removed from the feed stock and stockpiled to the side of the crusher.

This not only reduces material that is smaller than required passing through the jaw and causing unnecessary additional wear, but also creates a separate product. This by-pass conveyor is not only on option on the sale of the machine, butalso an option when operating the machine. If this separation is not required, this can be simply closed up and all the material passes through the jaw, blending together as it pours from the 800mm wide main discharge conveyor.

Charlie Doyle, Owner of C. Doyle and Sons, commented, “The J960 has a smaller footprint than the jaw crusher we ran before, but it is certainlydelivering more production throughput...

“Its compact size and savage throughput were the main reasons for choosing to buy this machine, as it means we can go to tight sites and get the job done efficiently.

“We have had nothing but great service from Tristan and all the team at Molson, so there was no question about the back up support being there when called upon”.

Tristan Dorey, Molson Sales Manager said; “Since the acquisitionof Finlay Group by Molson in June, all the sales team have been learning about the Terex Finlay product range and the J960 always stuck out as a real gem in the range.

“As one of the latest products to be released into the range, it includes a host of developments that really set it apart in the marketplace. So when Charlie mentioned that he was interested in replacing his previous crusher, with my knowledge of his business, I had no hesitation in recommending the J960 as the machine that was right for him”.
