Chicago Pneumatic adds two new models to its mid-size plate compactor range
International construction equipment manufacturer Chicago Pneumatic has expanded its mid-size light compaction range with the addition of two new reversible plate compactors. Designed primarily for compaction of granular soils, the new MV164 and MV174 models are ideally suited for operation in confined areas and trenching duties, either to complement or provide an alternative to the employment of drum roller machines.
Introducing this latest development, Andrzej MroziÅ„ski, spokesperson for light compaction equipment at Chicago Pneumatic said: “These two additions were developed with maximum productivity and user-friendly operation in mind. They deliver excellent, reliable compaction power and speed in either direction. To aid productivity on site, operators can even back out of a trench while still compacting. What’s more, users can easily change operation direction via the vibration dampened handle.”
Both models offer power and reliability from the proven performance of their manual start engine units. The MV164 features a 3.6 kW Honda GX 160 petrol engine, while the MV174 is powered by a Hatz 1B20 diesel engine that produces 3.1 kW. Either machine can achieve a maximum forward speed of 22 m/min.
The compactors’ durability is guaranteed by a 450 mm wide bottom plate made from Hardox 400 steel, which is designed for intensive usage and to be extremely resistant to wear and tear. In addition, the new design incorporates a hinged protective hood that provides easy access to the fuel tank. The hood also incorporates a foldable lifting eye to aid movement both on and between work sites. Meanwhile, the hydraulic pump is strategically located to reduce the risk of impact damage. Accessories for the compactors include a wheeled transport device and block paving kit.
The MV164 and MV174 forward and reversible plate compactors will make their debut at the CONEXPO Trade fair in March 2017. Both models will be available through Chicago Pneumatic’s worldwide distributor network, which offers sales, aftermarket parts and maintenance services locally.
