Collard Group expands South Coast Operations with Strategic Acquisition near Fareham

Collard Group is strengthening its presence across the South Coast with the acquisition of the 40-acre Rookery Recycling Facility near Fareham.

Strategically located between Southampton and Portsmouth, close to Junction 9 of the M27, the acquisition significantly extends Collard Group’s recycling and aggregates network and creates a new operational base from which to serve customers across the region.

The acquisition complements Collard’s existing Nursling facility near Southampton and will enable the Group to offer more competitive aggregate deliveries and inert waste collections across Fareham, Gosport, Portsmouth, Havant, Chichester and Petersfield.

Bringing an established recycling facility back into operation
Rookery is an established aggregate recycling facility which operated continuously from 2003 until it was mothballed in 2020. Collard Group will now bring the site back into productive use, with preparations underway to reconnect utilities and install a new weighbridge.

Once reopened, the facility will initially accept hardcore and soils for recycling, alongside the sale of a comprehensive range of recycled and primary aggregates.

Robert Collard, Founder and CEO of Collard Group, said: “The acquisition of Rookery Recycling Facility is an important step in the continued geographic expansion of Collard Group. Its location gives us a strategically important base between Southampton and Portsmouth and significantly strengthens our ability to serve customers across the South Coast.

“Alongside our existing operation at Nursling, Rookery will allow us to extend the reach of our aggregate and recycling services, improve efficiency and offer an even more competitive service to customers across the region.”

Continued strategic investment
The acquisition follows Collard Group’s expansion at Eversley earlier this year, where the company acquired a ready-mix concrete and aggregate wash plant and took over the operation of a 40-acre quarry.

While the Eversley acquisition strengthened Collard’s vertically integrated business model and ability to supply its own primary aggregates, Rookery further expands the Group’s geographic reach and recycling infrastructure.

Together, the investments form part of Collard Group’s long-term strategy to strengthen its operational network and increase its ability to self-deliver integrated waste management, recycling, aggregates and ready-mix concrete services across the South.
