Kal Tire Introduces New Trucks with Branding
With some of the most advanced, customized features and all-new branding, the new fleet of Kal Tire UK flatbed trucks will allow the mining tyre specialists to provide total national coverage for customers.
Sherwood Truck and Van, a long-standing UK vehicle supplier to Kal Tire, supplied the
vehicles. The latest additions from Sherwood are IVECO trucks, which Kal Tire has used for
several years in the UK as well as in West Africa. They have proved very reliable in the tough
working environments in which Kal Tire service engineers generally operate, such as quarry
and mining sites.
The new trucks will follow suit, operating in these rugged conditions and bringing immediate
tyre repair to customers on site, ensuring as little down time as possible for their vehicles. With
a larger fleet of trucks, all possessing the latest technical capabilities, Kal Tire has increased
their capacity to respond promptly to new and existing customers’ service requirements
throughout the region from the company’s home base in Alfreton, Derbyshire.
Mark Lee, Kal Tire’s Asset Transport & Asset Maintenance Manager Europe and Africa, was
delighted with the new acquisitions and especially with the range of advanced systems fitted by
Massey Trucks:
“We’ve replaced some of our older vehicles with these state-of-the-art IVECO Trakkers,” said
Lee. “Not only does this enhance the overall image and appearance of the Kal Tire fleet, but
the trucks’ new features also enable us to be more effective and efficient in our operations.”
New features include automatic transmission, remote control crane, and, most importantly, a
remote control inflation system—the most advanced to-date for Kal Tire UK—which allows the
engineer to stand safely in a protection zone whilst inflating the tyres.
Technically, the specifications of the new trucks include a 40 ton HMF crane, a 51” UHL tyre
handler, a supercharge intensifier operating the high pressure tyre tooling, and a piston
compressor capable of producing 175 PSI.
The first of the trucks is already fully occupied handling a workload of 51” tyres for a customer
in Scotland, and as existing vehicles are re-liveried, the fleet will gradually fly Kal Tire’s new
branding across all of the UK. But for the moment these brand new trucks are undoubtedly the
pride of Kal Tire’s road fleet.
