Liebherr-Rental Aims at Forestry and Biomass Production with New Specialist Excavator Attachment
Liebherr-Rental Limited is fulfilling its early promise of concentrating on specialist markets with a range of highly versatile excavators, materials handlers and associated attachments. The company has now added a further excavator attachment to the fleet and this is specifically aimed at tree stump harvesting and biomass production. A new JENZ R 900 Wood Root Harvester has been purchased by the company from UK distributors Westcon Equipment of Wimborne, Dorset.
JENZ points out that some 25% of the weight of a tree is below ground and, especially when harvesting for biomass fuel, it becomes even more important to make as much use of the whole tree as is possible. The JENZ R 900 brings a new cost-effective efficiency to the process, whilst at the same time avoiding excessive soil being mixed up in the chipping stage and removing the requirement to screen the end product to remove soil from the biomass. The JENZ R 900 Root Wood Harvester cuts the tree roots out of the soil with large roots being broken when they are still underground, leaving the cleanly separated wood root available for the next process towards biomass.
The R 900 weighs in at 880kg, has a jaw opening width of 955mm and is suitable for both tracked and wheeled carrier excavators of between 20 and 25 tonnes. Liebherr-Rental excavators are all high-specification machines and are ready piped for attachments such as the R 900. The fleet also largely features Liebherr Likufix which allows operators to safely, quickly and automatically change front-end equipment, with the Liebherr Tool Control system adjusting hydraulic flows and pressures through sensors to match the changed attachment.
Liebherr-Rental will be showing their new range of forestry attachments and carrier machines at the forthcoming APF Show in September.
