Mackoy Ltd shifts up a gear with a Volvo EC220E
A brand new twenty two tonne Volvo EC220E crawler excavator has been delivered to Mackoy Ltd of Chandlers Ford Hampshire as the company continues to expand its groundworks and civil engineering business in the house building and industrial sectors.
The new Tier IV compliant EC220E joins a fleet of predominantly run Volvo equipment operated by Mackoy Ltd which includes Volvo EC140D’s , several Volvo compact excavators supplied by utility dealer Plant & Engineering Services and Volvo tandem rollers. “We’ve continued to expand our plant fleet with Volvo machines based on their good quality, reliability and operator acceptance,” says Managing Director Mike Mayock. “We specifically opted for the EC220E to cater for some of the larger house building projects we are undertaking which require significant bulk earthmoving on site prior to preparing the ground for foundations. In addition we needed the capacity of a twenty two tonne excavator for some of the new projects we are undertaking as we expand our civil engineering division concentrating on larger industrial developments,” he continues.
Powered by a six cylinder Volvo engine developing 174 nett hp the EC220E offers the latest in engine technology and operating sophistication. For example pump flow is controlled for combined digging and swinging operations to reduce the flow loss through the overload relief valves, whilst maintaining digging power and maximum swing torque. When Eco mode is selected the machine provides better fuel efficiency without loss of performance in most operating conditions.
The Volvo Care Cab offers a large roomy interior with plenty of leg room and foot space. The excellent all round visibility is enhanced by pressurized and filtered cab air supplied by a 14 vent, climate control system. An adjustable easy to read LCD colour monitor provides real time information of the machine functions, important diagnostic information and a wide variety of work tool settings. The monitor also doubles as a monitor for the rear view camera.
