New Volvo chosen by William Tracey Ltd
A new Volvo L90H loading shovel has been delivered to William Tracey Ltd specifically to handle waste wood at the company’s Linwood recycling facility located on the outskirts of Glasgow.
The new 12 tonne loading shovel has been supplied complete with a 7.0m³ quick attachment mounted Hi Tip bucket and optional long boom. “Both the size of the machine and especially the size of the bucket suit our operations here at Linwood,” comments Robin Stevenson, Managing Director, Non Hazardous Division.
And observing the machine at work the company has certainly made the optimum choice with the L90H. The machine is deployed on pushing up the stock piles of incoming material whilst rehandling the chipped material into bays and loading out high sided bulkers.
Opting for the new L90H is part of a fleet standardisation process at William Tracey Ltd as the company has been operating Volvo loading shovels over the past twenty years. “We operate quite a number of Volvo L70 sized loading shovels in our traditional recycling areas and the machines have a good track record for reliability and performance. Opting for the L90H for our wood recycling facility made perfect sense in this regard,” continues Mr Stevenson.
The L90H supplied to William Tracey Ltd is powered by a Volvo Stage IV final Volvo 6 litre engine, developing 186 nett hp with a maximum torque of 853Nm at just 1400rpm. The machine also benefits from Volvo designed and manufactured driveline components, designed to offer considerable fuel savings each shift. Fuel savings are further enhanced by the Volvo Eco pedal, encouraging the operator to run the machine at its optimum rpm in the engine’s torque curve.
As with the entire existing fleet of Volvo loading shovels at work at William Tracey Ltd the new L90H has been supplied complete with a Volvo Silver Service agreement. The Silver customer support agreement from Volvo provides the company with a tool to budget for and track, with full visibility, the running costs of each item of plant. Regular six monthly reviews with Volvo ensure each machine is monitored to ensure its performance is managed in a cost effective way. Volvo’s ‘Matris’ monitoring and diagnostic tool provides added value and support to assess the machines’ performance.
