Newly founded MBA Instruments acquires level measurement

Organisation of the product division electromechanical level measurement forbulk materials is running smoothly

On 1 October, MBA Instruments GmbH acquired the level measurement technology division of MAIHAK AG in a management buyout. MAIHAK AG belonged to the process automation segment of SICK AG since the year 2000.

The management of the newly founded company is headed by Hans-Heinrich Westphal, long-term head of distribution at MAIHAK AG and Andreas Heckel, managing director of SMB International GmbH. MBA's new head office is situated on the SMB premises in the Schleswig-Holstein town of Quickborn. In addition to joint use of the site, both companies benefit from a mutual exchange of expertise.

‘The establishment of the new company went smoothly,' Andreas Heckel explains. With its MBA200 rotary blade level indicator, MBA LOT369 bulk measurement system and the MBA175 membrane switch, MBA Instruments GmbH offers an attractive portfolio for special applications in bulk good measurement. Thanks to its high flexibility in design and production, MBA also develops special solutions for desired measurement tasks. ‘Together with seven employees from the former level measurement division of MAIHAK AG, we will press ahead at the quality level you've come to expect and look forward to continuing business relationships both old and new in this configuration', says Hans-Heinrich Westphal.

SMB International GmbH manufactures systems for ship loading and tailor-made conveyor systems, filling systems and compact storage systems. It has employed the laser measurement technology of SICK AG for many years. As a result of the establishment of MBA, both profit from an expanded portfolio and take advantage of synergies in production and logistics.
