Northbank Demolition speed up production with OilQuic

Manchester based Northbank Demolition and their sister company PR Plant are no strangers to the OilQuick automatic quick coupler system. Having initially invested in the system from Warrington based attachment specialist ECY Haulmark back in 2011, to date have installed a further 12 units to their CAT and Doosan demolition spec excavators.

Northbank have offices in both the North and South of England so are well placed to cover a wide range of demolition and plant hire contracts. Having completed many prestigious projects in recent years Northbank Contracts Manager Mark Mates explained that having the OilQuick system installed on their fleet has most certainly given them an advantage to winning contracts.

OilQuick permits hydraulic attachments and work tools to be changed over in less than twenty seconds without the operator having to leave the safety cab to perform traditional manual attachment changes. The benefits of which enhance operator safety, reduce environmental damage from oil spillage and burst hoses, reduce the cost of replacing hoses whilst eliminating machine downtime and ensuring the correct attachment is always on hand for the demolition project being carried out. The hoses can be fed internally in most instances so there is no exposure to damage.

One current project for Northbank is the demolition of Avonbank House and Northcroft House, the former council offices in Newbury town centre. The project, originally scheduled to take sixteen weeks to complete will now be completed in just ten due to having two machines equipped with the OilQuick automatic quick couplers working on the site.

Mark commented “Due to this site being very compact it would be impossible to get more than two machines working simultaneously. With the machines having the OilQuick automatic quick coupler system installed this enables the operators to utilise between a wide range of attachments. With the 40 tonne Doosan machine overseeing the main demolition of the building utilising between a LaBounty MDP35 demolition processor, Bulldog 1000 selector grab and a bucket, the 30 tonne Doosan is fitted with OilQuick OQ70/55 and tackling the waste separation and ground clearance work utilising attachments including a VTN FP18 dedicated concrete processor, Hmag900 hydraulic magnet and a bucket”.

Mark concluded “Having the OilQuick system installed gives us complete flexibility by making our demolition fleet of machines very productive in terms speed to complete our projects, then there’s the added health and safety benefits for the operators, we also save a fortune on having to continually replace burst hoses” .
