Pioneering Container Weighing Product to Hit UK

Avery Weigh-Tronix has entered an agreement with New Zealand weighing equipment manufacturer, BISON. The collaboration exclusively brings a pioneering new product to the UK marketplace, enabling users to obtain container weights and carry out weight distribution checks at the point of packing. In less than 5 minutes, the Container Jacks can transfer weight data wirelessly to compatible Smart devices, making them a fast, portable and accurate way to weigh grounded shipping containers.
Said Pam Shields, UK Business Unit Manager, “Avery Weigh-Tronix is excited to be working with BISON to bring this product exclusively to the UK. With SOLAS regulation amendments coming into force in July this year, our extensive offering is now further enhanced. Avery Weigh-Tronix can offer a full range of unique, cost effective solutions to businesses requiring accuracy and compliance, as well as meeting any accreditation requirements that the shipper may have with their existing weighing equipment”.
Amendments to the SOLAS regulation mean that from July 2016, all shipping container weights must be properly verified by an approved method of weighing. This can be achieved in two ways: Method 1 weighs the packed container using calibrated and certified equipment; Method 2 weighs all packages and cargo items, including the packaging materials and the tare weight of the container. Adding the sum of all weights together provides the verified container weight.
Container Jacks are a cost-effective, fast way of complying with the SOLAS’ Method 1 weight regulation amendments. They also provide the assurance to maximise container loads while avoiding overloading. This extremely simple to use scale also links to Android Smart Devices through Bluetooth, enabling to user to have an accurate gross weight of the container at their fingertips.
For those affected by the SOLAS regulation amendments there are a wide range of weighing options available to suit your business, from road and rail weighbridges to platform and bench scales.
