Separating and Sorting on the Agenda at CARS & MRE 2016

Over 1,200 visitors from across the auto and metal recycling industries flocked to Donington Park as the two were brought together under one roof for the CARS-Expo - Complete Auto Recycling & Secondary Materials Trade Show - and the inaugural Metals Recycling Event.
Europe’s biggest event specifically for the two sectors saw a host of exhibitors demonstrating the latest in equipment, services and software.
A number of products made their UK debut including Panizzollo’s Flex 1000 which allows users to quickly and easily process a number of different materials. This piece of equipment can process anything from mixed waste to light iron to electric motors using just one hammer mill. Panizzollo is sold in the UK by EH Hassell whose range also includes, Sennebogen, Ing Bonfiglioli and Bronneberg - all of which was on display at the show.
Several companies demonstrated their kit in a working environment at the event including Kobelco, whose latest technology allows for more effective and profitable processing of end of life vehicles. Visitors watched on as the purpose built SK210D-9 pulled out valuable wiring looms and engines for separate handling. Other equipment included JCB’s JS20MH material handler with gooseneck and scrap grapple, and Hammel’s 950 DK primary shredder.
The event also saw industry experts gather in the Duesmann and Hensel Conference theatre to discuss a host of key subjects which ranged from the practical such as looking at new materials and structures of vehicles presented by Andy Walker of Thatcham to a presentation on the future of the steel industry from leading expert Gareth Stace of UK Steel.
The conference sessions also heard about the new challenge this year of meeting 95% recycling and recovery targets for ELV recycling and there was discussion of an ever-changing parts market with popular presentations from RecoAuto, Aviva UK and The ABP Club.
Headline partner JCB, found success through their indoor space and involvement with the live demonstrations. Speaking at the show, JCB’s, Mark Hobbs said, ‘It’s been very good, a good number of leads and the Teletruks in the live demonstration area have done well for us.’
Matthew James from equipment distributor, Deltax discussed their time at the event, ‘It’s been fantastic, in terms of quality of customers and the type of people that are coming on to the stand, it’s better than any other show I’ve done this year’.
After the success of the first show, CARS & MRE will return in June 2018.
