Two Liebherr Telescopic Boom Crawler Cranes Go To Select Plant Hire

Joining Select's fleet of Liebherr crawler and duty cycle cranes are the 60 tonnes and 100 tonnes capacity LTR 1060 and LTR 1100 telescopic boom crawler cranes.

Select Plant Hire has been a Liebherr customer for many years and currently has ten LR type crawler lift cranes and two HS duty cycle crawler cranes, with capacities ranging from 65-160 tonnes. These latest additions to Select's Liebherr fleet content are already hard at work on Edinburgh's tram project and London's Gateway Port project.

The LTR 1060 and LTR 1100 combine the advantages of a telescopic crane with those of a crawler crane, producing versatile lifters with short set-up times, easy transport (tracks can be retracted to 3m width on the LTR 1060 and 3.5m width on the LTR 1100), a variable jib system and exceptionally good off-road capability and travel performance under full load.

The LTR 1060 is equipped with a 40-metre telescopic main boom, a 2.5m assembly jib and a double swing-away fly-jib at 9.5 to 16 metres in length, achieving a maximum height-under-hook of up to 54.5 metres.

The LTR 1100 has a 52 metre telescopic main boom, a 2.9m assembly jib and a double swing away fly-jib at 10.8 to 19 metres in length. The self assembly system allows fast and economical ballasting, with 32t of rear counterweight and 15t of central ballast. In cramped conditions the crawlers can be retracted hydraulically to a chassis width of 3.5m and, on this narrow crawler track configuration, the LTR1100 can conduct crane operations, which are safeguarded by the safe load indicator.

The state-of-the-art operator's cabs include Liebherr's own high technology LICCON 2 safe load indicator, crane control system and BTT unit. Included in the LICCON 2 system for these models are programmed lift charts for working with main boom and assembly jib on inclinations up to 4°.

The LTR 1060 and LTR 1100, as with all new generation Liebherr cranes, are fitted with the latest GSM module technology. This provides a direct on-board link between the customer and Liebherr's after-sales engineers, both in the UK and the European factory where it is made, to assist in diagnostics and fault-finding should the need arise.
