Baioni grizzly wobbly feeder for evolution of design and application
First introduced by Baioni Crushing Plants SpA in the early 70's specifically for quarries and gravel pits that had difficult material which clay contamination, the Baioni GD grizzly wobbler feeder series has been installed globally over the years and has been proved to very successful piece of equipment allowing for the screening and cleaning of sticky and wet materials.
Exclusively designed non clogging and self cleaning elliptical bars it is a sturdy machine suitable for heavy-duty work. Recommended for pre-screening and cleaning of dirty material with a high content of clay and moisture. In more recent years it is now being used in aggregates recycling plants where some contaminated materials need to be screened out, perfectly suited for portable as well as stationary applications. The GD wobbler screen series consist of 9 model sizes capable of screening and cleaning material from 240 tonnes per hour to 1200 tonnes per hour.
DEVELOPMENT
Over the years the roller design has been improved, having several combinations of roll profile elliptical parabolic and with the development of the segmented profiles which enable various lateral spacing arrangements to suit difficult materials. The development of the segmented profiles makes it easy to fit or remove from the shaft and allows for moving segments on the shaft to get even wear. Further development of the shaft from round to square, the square shaft is a more positive drive and makes it easier to remove rolls or segments.
The drive is by electric motor gear box direct on the shaft which allows for direct on line starting, or for starting via an inverter from the control panel. Alternatively the machine can be fitted with a fluid coupling soft start.
Materials used for the segments are high grade materials resistant to wear and the roll system is made of high grade manganese; these are generally used when high silica content is present in the feed material, all side panels are lined with armour for protection of the frame and the ends of the shafts.
ARRANGEMENT
Baioni grizzly screens are generally placed after the feeder and prior to the crusher allowing the wobbler to do the screening and scrubbing action prior to proceed with crushing; wobblers are also being used to size heavy material in mines and recycling plant processes. They offer an ongoing feed rate under a variety of loading and material conditions. They are designed to take heavy shock loads and can be used in quarries, recycling, industrial processing, mining, sand and gravel operations, and a wide range of mineral processing industries.
CASE STUDY / APPLICATION
A recent application in the UK of a complete Baioni plant has been installed at Suttles Swanworth quarry Dorset, a very difficult reserve with a mixture Portland and Purbeck stones with seams of heavy clays making it difficult to work, especially in winter. From the start of the pre-planning, the quarry director Simon Clabburn made it clear that pre-screening process was the most important part of the project, to eliminate as much clay as possible prior to feeding the crusher. After several tests, the Baioni GD roll grizzly was chosen to be the best option before the feed to the impact crusher a Baioni model, MIP 101 producing up to 259 tph. This type of application proves that some difficult reserves with clay contaminated seams can be reclaimed with the use of wobblers, when other types of vibrating grizzly’s fail.
