Impact Zigzag Classification Unit Installed at Ehime Environment Centre, Japan

Following on from a successful show and on stand demonstrations at N-Expo, Tokyo (Japan’s main recycling and waste management event), Impact Air Systems and Japanese partners Ryohshin, have secured an order and installed a Zigzag Classification Unit at a recycling centre in northwestern Shikoku, Japan.
The installation has taken place at a C&D (construction and demolition) plant within the recycling centre in order to improve their recycling and recovery rates and to enhance the services they offer within the plant.
C&D waste separation in Japan has been a challenge for a long time with over a quarter of all waste being C&D that has been historically land filled. However, it is now one of the most common and successful recovery operations taking place throughout Japan and Hong Kong.
Impact’s ZCU is proving to be a popular choice in many valuable material recovery operations around the world, due to its ability to effectively and efficiently separate valuable material from its contaminants using air technology. Other features include fully adjustable air flows for highly efficient separation, high material throughput capabilities, a wide range of material applications, fully treated with highly durable internal surfaces for prolonged life and minimal on site assembly time.
Dave Lansdell, Technical Sales Director at Impact Air Systems explains the concept: “Mixed material is fed into the system via a belt conveyor is processed by the zigzag system, splitting the material based on density, size and shape into a stream of heavy and light materials, in this case, collecting valuable wood fractions from denser stone and aggregate material. The heavy material is discharged from the base of the zigzag classi-fication chamber, whilst the lighter material and fi¬ne dust particles are transported in the airstream and discharged at the base of the rotary material separator and from the fully integrated reverse jet cartridge style dust fi¬lter unit.”
He also comments on the partnership: “Impact’s relationship with Ryoshshin has gone from strength to strength over recent years with a steady stream of installations throughout Japan. Our passion to provide solutions with innovative technology for the recycling sector is matched by our Japanese counterparts enabling the Impact brand and ethos to be commonplace in many waste plants in Japan and around the world.”
