Kingfisher Industrial introduces wear resistant overlay plate

The UK's leading specialist manufacturer of wear resistant process plant and equipment are pleased to announce its latest development in support of Industry in the fight against wear, abrasion and impact. Kingfisher now manufacture their own range of K-CLAD 800 series Wear Resistant overlay range. As the range of K-CLAD 800 overlay plate is being manufactured in house within the UK, the process of material quality (plate & powders), deposition process, overall flatness and thickness can be controlled by means of our ISO 9001 quality control certification along with our Factory Production Control (FPC) procedures underpinning our ISO 1090 execution class 3 certification.

The production process is one that has been developed by a leading engineer within the industry having first produced this type of material in the 1970,s and has added significant value to the process of manufacture resulting in Its use in applications throughout the world with great success in mining, power, cement and steel manufacturing. The manufacturing process consists of a bulk deposit method where a finely tuned balance of metallic powders and flux's are mechanically deposited onto a mild steel base plate via a submerged arc fusion bonded process. The type and amount of powders can differ in variety where the use of chromium iron, carbon alloy, chromium and tungsten carbide offer different characteristics which counter the effects of wear such as sliding, erosion, impact as well as catering for the effects of heat fatigue and corrosion concerns that are apparent in the handling of bulk solid materials. Kingfisher’s new overlay system, incorporates state of the art electronic technology which enables production of an overlay with total carbide saturation (TCS) - this gives maximum wear resistance, extended whole-life use and cost savings.

K-CLAD 800 range can be utilised in many industries where the plant suffers from the effects of handling materials such as ores, cement, clinker, aggregates, coal and glass to name but a few, and can be supplied in sheet form for use by your own mechanical fitters, in pre-designed tailored shapes to suit the internal geometry of your fabrications or as an as built assembly where the structure and the lining system are incorporated into one assembly thus reducing any joints or soft spots within the system due to its monolithic substrate. Typical application for our K-CLAD 800 series include the protection of transfer chutes, vibratory feeders and screens, dump trucks, hoppers and fan blades and can sometimes provide 40 to 50 times better wear resistance in comparison to mild steel.
