Product reliability and sound back-up prompts another order from A M Dagg (Plant Hire) Ltd

East Lothian based A M Dagg (Plant Hire) Ltd has opted for another Volvo excavator – this time a fourteen-tonne EC140E, thanks in part to the good service and reliability of an older EC140B it replaces after 17,000 trouble-free hours.

“We’ve had a good experience operating all of our Volvo machines over a long period of time,” says Plant Manager Scott Gordon. “Our operators certainly appreciate the Volvo machines in regard to the comfort in the cab, the controllability, digging performance and overall build quality. In addition, Volvo has provided us with very good back-up when it’s been needed and we have a very good relationship and understanding with the SMT team at Stirling. The residual values on the Volvos are very strong too, so opting for another new Volvo excavator for our mixed plant fleet made perfect sense,” he continues.

The EC140E is powered by four-cylinder Stage-IV compliant Volvo engine developing 122 nett hp and offers the latest in engine technology and operating sophistication. For example, pump flow is controlled for combined digging and swinging operations to reduce the flow loss through the overload relief valves whilst maintaining digging power and maximum swing torque. When Eco-mode is selected, the machine provides better fuel efficiency without loss of performance in most operating conditions.

“So far, we’re really pleased with the new E-version in every respect, particularly with the arrangement of the operator’s compartment,” says Scott. “The Volvo cab has plenty of leg room and good all round visibility thanks to the side and rear mounted cameras which is a real boon working on confined sites. It’s certainly a hit with our machine operator and we are confident we will get a similar length of the service to the old B with the EC140E!”
