Pump Power Rental invests in Atlas Copco QES generators

Pump Power Rental, the complete pump and power solution provider, are implementing aggressive growth plans that include expansion into the generator hire market – and these have been marked by an initial purchase of a substantial number of Atlas Copco’s QES professional rental specification generating sets, ranging from 20 to 100kVA...

David Berry, Managing Director at Pump Power Rental comments; “Pump Power will be offering a UK-wide generator rental service, and we have facilitated this by selecting Atlas Copco as our supplier. Our decision was based on our recognition of Atlas Copco as a trusted global brand. In particular, we have chosen products from their QES range of generators, as this is generally accepted as the premier brand available in the UK rental market today.”

Atlas Copco has been developing rental generators to meet all customer requirements in many different sectors. The QES range, designed with the customer in mind, is easy to move, operate and service. It fulfils Pump Power’s ambition of providing general construction and rental users with a practical and trusted power solution for the toughest worksites.

The QES range has undergone an extensive design and testing procedure to ensure resilience against even the harshest weather; an important factor, as Pump Power delivers to all parts of the UK, all year round. The secure, corrosion-proof canopy repels all liquids, including heavy rainfall, and also performs in extreme heat. Another key design element is ease of operation, giving the generator plug-and-power capability and allowing start-up without headaches.

The generators’ high rental specification includes a Deepsea control panel, galvanised skid base, and a three-way fuel valve. They are powered by the latest EU stage 3A diesel engines. Standard QES range features include manual start controllers on many models, spillage-free frame with integrated forklift slots and lifting beams, external drain points and large doors for easy access during servicing. Among the options are battery charger and cut-off switch, external fuel tank connection and cold-start functionality.

Safety features on the QES range include a 4-pole main circuit breaker, earth leakage circuit protection and earth pin, a dedicated socket compartment and emergency stop. The rugged galvanised steel enclosure is also sound attenuated to provide noise protection. The system is kept clean with a dual-stage heavy duty air filter with safety cartridge, and a dual stage fuel filter with water separator.

These sets are ultra-compact, simplifying truck loading and storage, and making them a perfect choice for any rental application. Also, they can be brought on line in just two clicks; they deliver stable power within 10 seconds of start-up and can withstand a 100% load step. They can then run continuously for up to 500 hours before requiring a two-hour service interval. This reliable, continuous operation is complemented by Pump Power’s 24-hour service support facility.

The QES generators’ ease of set-up and use, compact form factor and reliable operation in all weathers resonates well with Pump Power’s service ethic.” David Berry said, “We pride ourselves on exceptional customer support, driven by a management team with decades of technical knowledge and experience in the rental industry. We are easy to deal with, and truly believe in looking after our customers at all costs. We are aware that many suppliers claim to offer great service, but our users will attest to the fact that we really do deliver.”

Paul Webster, Product Specialist – Generators & Lighting at Atlas Copco Power Technique in the UK, comments: “We are delighted to win this first order from Pump Power Rental, and support their expansion plans for the UK’s generator hire market.”
