UK Readymix Concrete expands capabilities with first Volvo from SMT GB

Having previously purchased a Volvo L90F wheeled loader privately, UK Readymix Concrete has now bought its first machine, an L110H, directly from the SMT GB Used Equipment department, with the benefits of a 12-month warranty, remote monitoring and proactive maintenance support...

UK Readymix Concrete had been buying used parts from SMT GB for years, but recently made its first used equipment purchase, a Volvo L110H wheeled loader, directly from the authorised dealer for Volvo Construction Equipment in Great Britain.

The Slough-based provider of concretes, aggregates and grab hire services had the confidence to purchase the used L110H based on its long relationship with SMT GB for parts, as well as its success with a L90F bought privately three years ago. The L90F has run reliably since then and been held in high regard by UK Readymix Concrete’s operators for its comfort and user-friendliness.

When asked why the company opted for Volvo, Managing Director Harry Khakh explained: “We’re still very happy with the L90F, so we were keen to stick with Volvo. They’re really reliable machines.”

With just over 1,600 operating hours, the SMT GB Used Equipment team delivered the Volvo L110H wheeled loader to UK Readymix Concrete in immaculate condition.

Better than ever

Given UK Readymix Concrete’s enthusiasm for the L90F, the many improvements made to the H-Series of Volvo wheeled loaders are sure to be greatly welcomed by the company’s managers and operators alike. These include 20% better fuel efficiency over the G-Series, faster cycle times thanks to a new generation of Optishift, and the addition of a Volvo Eco pedal that reduces excess machine wear while also lowering overall fuel consumption.

UK Readymix Concrete's L110H also benefits from being fitted with Volvo Co-Pilot and On-Board Weighing, which provides real-time insights into the bucket’s load to eliminate over-loading, underloading, reweighing, and waiting times. Overall, these machine control features contribute to greatly enhanced operator usability and accuracy, as well as on-site efficiency and productivity.

Ultimate peace of mind

Receiving a comprehensive 120-point inspection prior to delivery, UK Readymix Concrete can rest assured that the L110H has been supplied in perfect working order. At the time of delivery, it had just over 1,600 operating hours and was presented in immaculate condition.

“The L110H is in good working order and has been thoroughly inspected by the SMT GB team, so we know we’ve bought a good machine,” Harry said.

For extra reassurance and peace of mind, all machines supplied by the SMT GB Used Equipment team are delivered with a 12-month warranty. UK Readymix Concrete has also opted for a Level 2 Customer Support Agreement to cover the newly purchased L110H, which provides customers with a 10% discount on labour costs for all service work, as well as access to the Volvo CareTrack telematics system and SMT ProCare.

The dedicated SMT ProCare team uses Volvo CareTrack data to analyse machine health and performance remotely. If required, the team creates bespoke recommendations to help prevent breakdowns, reduce unplanned downtime, and minimise repair costs, while also helping to lower the total cost of ownership for customers.

Fitted with the latest machine control technologies and backed by remote monitoring, SMT GB will support UK Readymix Concrete to get the best possible value from the wheeled loader.

A one-stop-shop for machines, parts and services

Andy Defrates, Remarketing Director at SMT GB, said: “There are so many benefits to purchasing a piece of used construction equipment directly from us at SMT GB. Besides the various financing and leasing options we can offer in partnership with Volvo Financial Services (VFS), our extended warranties, service contracts and remote monitoring are key.

“This protects the customer in case anything goes wrong with the machine, and gives them the peace of mind that Volvo-trained engineers will be looking at it regularly and highlighting any minor issues before they can turn into expensive problems. Our online support functions, including service reminders and alarms, also take some of the burden of fleet management away from the customer, helping the customer to get the most out of their machine with the least effort on their part.”

Commenting on the delivery of UK Readymix Concrete’s new L110H, which will be used as the company’s prime mover, Harry stated: “The delivery of the machine has been very smooth, and we’re pleased that an SMT GB demonstrator arrived so shortly after the delivery to show my operators around their new machine. These are exciting times for us.”
