New Safety Standards for Overband Magnets: Magnapower Launch New Range

Magnapower, a leading manufacturer in the recycling and bulk material handling industries, is pleased to announce the launch of its new range of overband magnets, scheduled for release in January 2025. This launch will mark the company’s commitment to staying at the forefront of industry safety and design standards, particularly in response to the EN 620:2021 standard for fixed belt conveyors.

The EN 620:2021 standard, titled "Continuous handling equipment and systems – Safety requirements for fixed belt conveyors for bulk materials," is set to be effectively enforced from 2nd February 2025. The updated regulations introduce rigorous design safety requirements for conveyor systems, with a strong emphasis on enhanced guarding measures to ensure operator and maintenance personnel safety.

Magnapower’s new range of overband magnets has been meticulously engineered to meet and exceed the requirements of the EN 620:2021 standard. Key upgrades include:

  • Enhanced Guarding Systems: The new overband magnets will feature improved guarding around the magnet conveyors. These enhancements are designed to provide superior protection, reducing the risk of accidental contact with moving parts and ensuring compliance with the latest safety mandates.
  • Advanced Conveyor Integration: The design modifications also incorporate the latest changes in conveyor technology, allowing for seamless integration with existing systems while ensuring that the entire setup adheres to the highest safety standards.
  • Optimized Performance and Efficiency: While focusing on safety, Magnapower has also ensured that the new range maintains the high performance and reliability that customers have come to expect. The upgrades are designed not only to enhance safety but also to optimize the operational efficiency of the overband magnets in demanding bulk material handling environments.

Rob Jones, MD of Magnapower, commented: “As a company, we are dedicated to leading the industry in both innovation and safety. The introduction of our new overband magnets is a testament to this commitment, ensuring that our customers have access to equipment that meets the most stringent safety standards, without compromising on performance.”

Magnapower is confident that the design changes will set a new benchmark in the industry, providing customers with peace of mind as they transition to the new regulatory environment. The company will begin taking pre-orders for the new range in December 2024.
