Safety Manual for Concrete Pumps thoroughly revised
Revision 21 of the ‘Safety Manual Concrete delivery and placing machines’ takes into account new technology, EU requirements and practical experience...
“The Safety Manual Concrete delivery and placing machines” has been published in a comprehensively revised new edition. With Revision 21, the Concrete Pumps Working Group within the VDMA has fundamentally restructured the well-established set of regulations and adapted it to current requirements.
The revision focused on a clear reorganisation and the consistent incorporation of new framework conditions. These include, in particular, processes and terminology from EU legislation, relevant accident insurance regulations and the current state of the art. Furthermore, the working group has integrated extensive insights from operational practice into the new Revision 21.
Uniform safety standards for practical application
The Safety Manual defines fundamental safety requirements, applicable to all manufacturers, for the handling of concrete conveying and distribution machinery. The aim is to support the safe, proper and cost-effective operation of the machinery. The safety instructions contained therein help to prevent hazards, reduce downtime and repair costs, and increase the machinery's reliability and service life.
Broad scope of application throughout the entire life cycle
The Safety Manual is intended for all persons entrusted with work on or involving concrete conveying and placing machines. This includes, in particular, operation and handling, transport, scheduling, troubleshooting, cleaning and maintenance.
It has been developed on the basis of the regulations applicable within the European legal framework and may also be applied beyond this scope, provided that no national regulations preclude this.
Supplement to statutory requirements and manufacturers’ documentation
The safety manual does not replace statutory regulations or the manufacturers’ individual operating instructions. Rather, it supplements these with general, manufacturer-independent technical expertise.
