Stevens Equipment Rental expands hauler fleet with more Liebherr ADTs
Continuing the family-run firm’s 50th anniversary multi-brand fleet expansion, the addition of 11 new Liebherr ADTs comes after a successful in-fleet evaluation period with customers, which confirmed the machines’ reliability and fuel efficiency.
Stevens Equipment Rental (SER) has chosen to add 11 new Liebherr TA 230 Litronic articulated dump trucks (ADTs) to its fleet after receiving excellent feedback from customers.
The delivery is the third major fleet enhancement for SER in 2025, which is now the largest ever in the company’s 50-year history, with further expansion planned for next year.
It follows other recent additions from Volvo Construction Equipment and Caterpillar, designed to ensure high machine availability and support for SER’s growing national customer base.
By working with multiple original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and their dealers, SER can effectively ensure timely deployment and provide reliable, responsive service.
“Our customers’ projects are our top priority. When demand is as high as it is now, being agile is crucial,” explained Mark Need, SER’s sales manager for the North & Scotland. “Our multi-brand approach means we have the flexibility to secure the best equipment to meet our customers’ schedules. It’s about ensuring we can say ‘yes’ and deliver a high-quality, reliable machine that’s well supported with parts and service, no matter where the site is in the UK.”
Successful trials confirm real-world performance
The decision to invest in further Liebherr ADTs was based on the performance of the first TA 230 Litronic units, introduced to the SER fleet in 2023. These initial machines underwent a two-year-long, real-world evaluation with SER’s customers, confirming their value as a reliable and efficient fleet asset.
“The feedback from the customers who ran the first Liebherr trucks was extremely positive, particularly on their high uptime and low fuel consumption,” said Ben Beard, SER’s sales manager for the South. “That experience, combined with the fantastic back-up support we’ve received from Liebherr so far, gave us the confidence to add further units. The TA 230 Litronic has proven to be a great product and is a perfect example of our dedication to finding solutions that work for our customers.”
Specialist equipment for specialist jobs
The SER fleet also includes a number of Liebherr material handlers on long-term fixed contracts in industries, such as forestry and sawmills, waste and recycling, and energy-from-waste and biomass. Equipped with a range of attachments, including grapples and grabs, the machines were selected for their proven performance and productivity.
“Liebherr’s reputation in the material handling product category is second to none, so they were the natural choice for this investment,” Ben Beard said. “They’re purpose-built for the job and deliver the uptime and performance needed to keep a high-volume facility in the timber or recycling sectors running smoothly.”
