Wilson Plant Increases Screening Performance with EDGE SCREENPRO S16
When Wilson Plant set out to upgrade its screening operation, the company was looking for more than just additional capacity. It wanted a machine capable of processing difficult materials efficiently while reducing operating costs and simplifying day-to-day operation.
Following the international launch of the EDGE Innovate SCREENPRO S16 at ConExpo in Las Vegas, Wilson Plant's Director, Sam Wilson, recognised the machine's potential and quickly placed an order. Several months later, the investment is already delivering measurable results at the company's recycling facility near Farnham, Hampshire.
Processing a wide range of demolition waste, site clearance materials, soils and green waste, Wilson Plant produces recycled aggregates, topsoil, compost, sand and other landscaping products. With increasing demand placed on its recycling operation, the business required a screening solution capable of handling high volumes without compromising efficiency.
Higher Throughput Without Higher Fuel Costs
Since commissioning the SCREENPRO S16, Wilson Plant has reported a significant improvement in productivity.
"The robust EDGE SCREENPRO S16 is exactly what we needed," explained Sam Wilson. "It comfortably handles all of the materials we process, including some very challenging applications. Compared to our previous three-way screener, the larger screening area has increased throughput by around 40%, yet fuel consumption remains virtually the same. That's been a huge benefit for us."
Designed for feed capacities of up to 600 tonnes per hour, the SCREENPRO S16 combines a large 14m² screening area with wide discharge conveyors and adjustable screening angles to maximise production while maintaining excellent material quality.
Built Around the Operator
Alongside increased production, Wilson Plant has also praised the machine's ease of operation.
"The feedback from our operators has been excellent," said Wilson. "The controls are straightforward and the remote-control system is a real advantage. Being able to operate the machine directly from the loader cab means one person can manage the screening process safely and efficiently."
The wireless remote allows operators to control tracking, conveyor speeds, sequential start-up and hopper functions from up to 100 metres away, improving both productivity and site safety.
Maintenance has also been simplified through hydraulic lift-up functionality for rapid screen media changes, generous service access and hydraulic folding conveyors that reduce setup time between sites.
Versatility Across Recycling Applications
Developed for both primary and secondary screening duties, the SCREENPRO S16 can be configured with a range of screening media, including woven mesh, punch plate, finger screens and grizzly decks. Optional overband magnets and magnetic head drums allow operators to recover ferrous metals during recycling operations, further increasing material value.
Its transport-friendly dimensions make it equally suited to contractors requiring mobility and recycling operators processing high daily volumes.
Partnership Beyond the Machine
Wilson Plant credits not only the machine itself, but also the support provided by EDGE Innovate's UK distributor, Red Knight 6.
"Red Knight 6 have been excellent from day one," said Wilson. "They even organised a visit to the EDGE manufacturing facility before we purchased the machine, which gave us great confidence in both the product and the company behind it. Their aftersales support has been first class, and knowing they carry extensive spare parts stock gives us real peace of mind."
He added: "This is our first EDGE machine and we've been extremely impressed. It has exceeded our expectations, and we would certainly recommend the SCREENPRO S16 to anyone processing similar materials."
Meeting Growing Demand
According to Tom Connolly, Sales Director at EDGE Innovate, the success of the SCREENPRO S16 reflects changing customer requirements across the global recycling industry.
"Customers are increasingly looking for screening equipment that delivers higher production while remaining simple to own, operate and maintain," he said. "The SCREENPRO S16 has been developed around those priorities, and we're seeing strong demand from customers across Europe, North America, Australia and Scandinavia."
"The consistent feedback we're receiving highlights the machine's productivity, versatility and ease of servicing. It's another example of how working closely with our customers and dealer network continues to shape the next generation of EDGE equipment."
For Wilson Plant, the investment has already proven worthwhile. By increasing throughput, maintaining fuel efficiency and simplifying operation, the SCREENPRO S16 has become an important part of the company's continued growth and commitment to delivering high-quality recycled products.
